What is the European Committee of the Regions?

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is the European Union’s advisory body representing regional and local governments in the European legislative process. Its mission is to ensure that the voice of regions and cities is taken into account in EU policy-making, promoting territorial cohesion and proximity in decision-making.

Created in 1994, the CoR issues opinions on legislative proposals from the European Commission and can present its own initiatives on issues that directly affect European regions and municipalities.
