The Pioneers into Practice (PIP) programme was created with the goal to produce a new generation of highly competent specialists, employees and political leaders who will help Europe into the transition to a new low in carbon economy. PIP tries to develop an interdisciplinary platform of technical knowledge and management ability, through an approach based on "learning while doing" promoting the mobility of professionals between the three vertices of the triangle of knowledge in each region (investigation and education, business and public bodies).

Climate-KIC is the main EU climate change initiative. It is one of the major European public-private collaboration focusing on climate change mitigation and adapting to it. Companies, academical institutes and public bodies form Climate-KIC.
